Work it Out

28 Aug

Happy Saturday everyone! My morning started off with a sweaty gym sesh. I hit the treadmill for 2 miles and then finished my workout doing 30 minutes on the elliptical. I burned a total of 450 calories and was ravishing for food by the time I got back to my apartment. I whipped up some delicious all-natural Van’s frozen waffles that I purchased in paradise yesterday along with some ‘nana slices and sugar-free maple syrup, yum!

perfection.

My hunger is tamed and I’m all showered up! Off to enjoy this beautiful day :) Be back later all!

Question

What is your favorite quick yet satisfying breakfast?

Trader Joe’s Hits Another Home-run!

27 Aug

I love shopping at Trader Joe’s. It is one of my favorite grocery stores aside from paradise Whole Foods. A huge plus about Trader Joe’s is that it doesn’t suck my grocery budget dry quite as rapidly as Whole Foods. Aside from being affordable, most everything I have tried from TJ’s has been a winner. Tonight’s dinner was no exception! Since I start classes soon and will not always have time to cook a proper meal, I purchased some frozen meals from TJ’s to stock up my freezer. The featured meal on this lovely evening was Chicken Vindaloo and it was fantastic!

sorry for the sticker residue. no preservatives, yay!

heavenly.

I am definitely stocking up on these bad boys ;) I’m off to pretty myself up for an event at my building. Enjoy your night all!

Grocery Shoppin’ in Paradise

27 Aug

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday! Keep those questions coming- read this post for what that’s about! My amazing mother drove downtown to meet up with me and hit up paradise, AKA Whole Foods :) I wanted to buy EVERYTHING, but considering I am on a college budget and have limited space, I narrowed it down to a few staples below, many of which are new finds for me!

the loot

Pictured above we’ve got the most adorable quart of milk I have ever seen, Vans Organic Waffles, my new love Chobani, cinnamon and chocolate peanut butter, and the most amazing sounding fruit spread ever by Crofter’s. That baby contains pomegranates, black currants, red grapes, and morello cherries…YUM! Has anyone tried this flavored spread before? Sounds pretty fabulous to me! I am also excited to try the peanut butter packets that I picked up. I have had a hard time, since my weight loss, allowing myself to enjoy regular full-fat peanut butter. The only kind that has been “allowed” was Better’n'Butter. Well that is about to change! No more not letting myself hop on the nut butter loving bandwagon! Count me in- I am here for the ride :)

I grabbed lunch with mama and ordered the same exact thing as yesterday. I am sure I will get sick of it soon enough ;) If you’d like to see a snapshot of that look at this post! I’m off to unwind and organize my room. Be back later with dinner! Keep enjoying this beautiful day!!

The Girl Behind the Blog

27 Aug

As I’m sitting here devouring a deep chocolate vitatop and waiting for my mom to pick me up to go grocery shopping, it hit me that a lot of changes are taking place in my life. I am going to a new school, living in a new place, and constantly meeting new people. One of the biggest changes, however, is not one of the previously mentioned. The most positive change that I am speaking of is finally coming out about my food struggles and taking them head on. I’ll admit I was incredibly hesitant to create this blog. I was afraid to open up and let others see the difficulties I was facing. Little did I know, many others were dealing with the same issues. Since I have begun blogging, I have been able to find a bond with others in the blogging community that has both inspired and motivated me to remain on the right track.

It is so easy to make positive changes and then quickly go back to your old habits, I have done so many of times. But for the first time during my struggles, I finally have the will power to not turn back. I really want to thank my mom for sticking by my side through it all, but also all of you readers and amazing fellow bloggers that have decided to accompany me on my journey. I cannot explain how much it means to me to have your kind words and support.

I wanted to give everyone an opportunity to know me, the girl behind tasty and trim, a bit better. My goal is to create a FAQ page answering any questions that anyone may have. I know others are dealing with the same or similar issues and I feel that putting myself out there can maybe help another person along the way. One fact I don’t think you all know about me is that I have two amazing sisters.

Tinamarie, Vanessa, and I

These girls mean the world to me and I am so lucky to have them. That’s one fact you probably didn’t know so feel free to hit me up for some more!

I’ll be back later to post dinner! Have a fabulous friday everyone :)
